Wren Announces New Security Tool for Schools, Encapsulon(R) Assessment

Designed by Security Experts, New Tool Helps Administrators, SROs Create Safer Learning Environments; Special Introductory Pricing Available

BALTIMORE, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Wren, a provider of enterprise surveillance and security solutions since 1983, today announced Encapsulon Assessment for Schools, a new web-based tool that helps administrators and school resource officers (SROs) assess potential security and safety risks. Encapsulon Assessment will allow Wren clients to take the initial - and sometimes the hardest - steps toward creating a safer and more secure environment by pointing out areas that require further attention and evaluation at the local level.

Designed to provide a comprehensive look at an individual school's potential security risks, response resources, policies and procedures, the new tool will be available in July 2009 for $995 per year. Encapsulon Assessment is being offered at an advanced price of $895 during the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) 19th Annual National Conference, June 29 - July 3, 2009.

"Our research showed us that administrators often feel overwhelmed and unprepared to tackle complex security issues, so we've developed a solution to help them begin the process of understanding their risks," said Jeff Floreno, director of operations and security strategy at Wren. "Our methodology is based not only on our deep expertise in the education market, but also on the advice of experts spanning corporate, homeland and school security."

To develop the specialized assessment tool, Wren assembled the SAFE (Security and Facility Evaluation) Squad(TM), a team of experts in every aspect of security and safety. The SAFE Squad consists of a panel of experts with impressive credentials and extensive experience in areas including school administration, personal security, certified firearms training, fire and rescue, hazardous materials handling, counter-terrorism, emergency medical services, and narcotics, to name a few. The SAFE Squad worked with Wren to develop and validate Encapsulon Assessment.

Following the completion of a comprehensive survey of questions about their school campus and the surrounding community, customers receive tabulated results and a detailed security report that evaluates key security and potential safety risks and provides recommended mitigation strategies. Additionally, Encapsulon Assessment will enable schools to track their progress in addressing problems over time.

A pioneer in school security, Wren works closely with schools across the US to create safer learning environments. Over the last several years, Wren has conducted extensive primary market research to learn about schools' greatest security challenges, their level of preparedness and the tools they use to create safer learning environments. Wren's findings in studies such as the Northeast School Security Survey, the Wren School Security Survey: Access Control, and the Midwest School Security Survey contributed to the decision to develop Encapsulon Assessment for Schools.

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
