Veracode First Cloud-Based Security Service to Reach 50 Billion Lines of Code Milestone

Industry Leader Offers Free Application Risk Assessment to Fortify Customers and Encourages Direct Comparison of Cloud-Based Services

BURLINGTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/17/09 -- Veracode Inc., provider of the world's leading cloud-based application risk management services platform, today announced that it is the first cloud-based security company to reach the 50 billion lines of code scanned milestone. Through its SecurityReview® cloud-based services platform, Veracode has verified thousands of applications and more than 50 billion of lines of code submitted from all origins including internally developed, open source, outsourced, crowd-sourced and third-party software vendors. Additionally, it has announced it is offering a free application assessment for Fortify source code tool customers and those using their recently announced SaaS binary offering. The offer will allow organizations to compare Veracode's cloud-based software security services, which were designed from the ground up for on-demand delivery and allow Fortify customers to benefit from the high accuracy and simple deployment Veracode customers enjoy.

Veracode's SecurityReview® service which includes static, dynamic, enhanced dynamic and eLearning services along with optional manual penetration testing is the industry's most comprehensive testing solution with all results provided through a single, unified platform. Veracode's unique ability to evaluate the final integrated form of the application (in binary or bytecode form) rather than source code allows customer to independently evaluate 3rd party applications and outsourced code for the first time and compare against internally developed applications.

"Given the complexities of the application security problem, we have believed from inception that executives and development teams would require a combination of true binary analysis with a cloud-based delivery model to effectively manage application risk coming from multiple sources. We were excited to see Fortify finally react to customer demands for cloud based application risk management solutions because it confirms the market shift that we and our customers anticipated and puts another stake in the heart of expensive on premises source tools in the long run," said Matt Moynahan, CEO of Veracode. "Now that Fortify has indicated their future is in the cloud, we encourage customers to compare the quality of results with Veracode."

The Internet of Things will challenge the status quo of how IT and development organizations operate. Or will it? Certainly the fog layer of IoT requires special insights about data ontology, security and transactional integrity. But the developmental challenges are the same: People, Process and Platform and how we integrate our thinking to solve complicated problems. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Craig Sproule, CEO of Metavine, demonstrated how to move beyond today's coding paradigm and sh...

What are the new priorities for the connected business? First: businesses need to think differently about the types of connections they will need to make – these span well beyond the traditional app to app into more modern forms of integration including SaaS integrations, mobile integrations, APIs, device integration and Big Data integration. It’s important these are unified together vs. doing them all piecemeal. Second, these types of connections need to be simple to design, adapt and configure...
Cell networks have the advantage of long-range communications, reaching an estimated 90% of the world. But cell networks such as 2G, 3G and LTE consume lots of power and were designed for connecting people. They are not optimized for low- or battery-powered devices or for IoT applications with infrequently transmitted data. Cell IoT modules that support narrow-band IoT and 4G cell networks will enable cell connectivity, device management, and app enablement for low-power wide-area network IoT. B...
Contextual Analytics of various threat data provides a deeper understanding of a given threat and enables identification of unknown threat vectors. In his session at @ThingsExpo, David Dufour, Head of Security Architecture, IoT, Webroot, Inc., discussed how through the use of Big Data analytics and deep data correlation across different threat types, it is possible to gain a better understanding of where, how and to what level of danger a malicious actor poses to an organization, and to determin...
