'This Isn't Excel, It's Magic!' Casting a Spell on Excel Users

First book from IIL Publishing, New York is reporting a success in sales

NEW YORK, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- If going back to press for a second printing just a few months after publication isn't any indication of how well "This Isn't Excel, It's Magic!" by Bob Umlas is doing, just ask the publisher.

"They are selling like hotcakes," said Judy Umlas, publisher. "Excel users are screaming for a copy of the book from all over the world."

With Microsoft(R) Excel being probably the most widely used spreadsheet program in the world, it seemed like the perfect fit for a book with such a global appeal to be the initial publication at IIL Publishing, New York. Experimenting with Excel for years has led Microsoft(R) Excel guru and first- time book author Bob Umlas to write "This Isn't Excel, It's Magic!"

Global project management training company International Institute for Learning, Inc. (IIL) created IIL Publishing, New York this fall as a niche imprint publisher aimed at producing non-fiction business books.

"Even though the tips and tricks in 'This Isn't Excel, It's Magic!' are mainly for the intermediate-level Excel user, even the most advanced Excel user will find some gems here they hadn't known before. I know this because I've tested them!" Bob Umlas said.

With orders coming in from abroad, IIL Publishing, New York will be offering an E-book edition of "This Isn't Excel, It's Magic!," to be available in late October. Comments on the book include:

"I carry 'This Isn't Excel, It's Magic!' in my car and read tips while stopped at traffic lights. This book is already full of post-it flags for all the tips I didn't know. I think I've flagged all but the title page!" - Melanie Beck, technical training specialist "I thought I knew a lot about Excel, but I now realize how little I did know. There are so many great head-spinning, jaw-dropping tips and tricks. It makes unlocking the power of Excel an amazing experience. A must-have for [Excel] users everywhere. Mr. Umlas [is] a true magician!" - Alesa Ward, corporate accountant "This is the best book ever written!" - E. LaVerne Johnson, president and CEO of IIL

Bob Umlas is a Microsoft(R) Excel MVP, a title given by Microsoft(R) for his ongoing contributions to the various online newsgroups. He has also been the contributing editor to the publication "Inside Microsoft(R) Excel," having written over 300 articles on all aspects of Excel. For 10 years he co-led New York City's PC Excel Special Interest Group. He has authored several chapters in various Excel books.

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
