Pulte Homes Mexico Lays Solid Foundation for Network Security With ForeScout's CounterACT(TM)

CUPERTINO, Calif., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- ForeScout Technologies, the leading provider of clientless Network Access Control (NAC), policy enforcement and intrusion prevention solutions, announced today that Pulte Homes Mexico, one of the largest homebuilder companies in Mexico, has deployed ForeScout's CounterACT network security appliances to protect against self-propagating malware and hackers.

Pulte Homes Mexico has added several CounterACT appliances to its existing ActiveScout implementation. CounterACT provides automated protection for the interior of the network, while ActiveScout guards the network perimeter. In addition to the Network Access Control (NAC) functionality, ForeScout's appliances automatically detect and block malicious traffic without affecting legitimate data flows. Since the deployment of CounterACT, Pulte Homes Mexico has been able to reclaim a significant amount of lost bandwidth by instantly detecting and stopping unwanted traffic. Additionally, during a worm outbreak, CounterACT detected and contained the threat in real-time, ensuring network availability and business continuity.

"As an existing ActiveScout user we were familiar with the benefits of ForeScout's appliances, so adding CounterACT to our network security infrastructure was a 'no-brainer,'" said Jose Nunez, IT Director at Pulte Homes Mexico. "ForeScout's appliances accurately detect unknown threats, automatically stop attacking sources in real-time, and do not rely on signatures or manual updates. During outbreaks, our network was bogged down by unwanted traffic from worms and malware. With Counteract installed, the network continues to be operational even though an outbreak is taking place."

"We are pleased to be a part of Pulte Homes Mexico security infrastructure to protect its dispersed enterprise network from self-propagating malware and hackers," said Ray Wizbowski, Director of Business Development at ForeScout Technologies. "ForeScout provides an unparalleled level of network protection, which is why 100 percent of our customers trust their appliances in full automatic-block mode. We are proud to continue providing comprehensive network protection and ensuring business continuity without the usual TCO associated with systems that require monitoring and manual updates."

ForeScout recently released CounterACT 5.0, which integrates granular network policy enforcement with malware blocking and vulnerability assessment/mitigation technology. CounterACT delivers an integrated security platform enabling network administrators to define and enforce granular access policies for all endpoints in conjunction with existing network elements. CounterACT provides a cost effective, flexible solution for delivering complete policy enforcement and intrusion prevention without the need for network infrastructure overhauls.

The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...
While the focus and objectives of IoT initiatives are many and diverse, they all share a few common attributes, and one of those is the network. Commonly, that network includes the Internet, over which there isn't any real control for performance and availability. Or is there? The current state of the art for Big Data analytics, as applied to network telemetry, offers new opportunities for improving and assuring operational integrity. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Jim Frey, Vice President of S...
