E-Sign Hackathon: $25,000 to Innovative Apps Using the DocuSign API

First-Ever eSignature Hackathon Awards $25,000 in Cash Prizes to Innovative Apps with Integrations on the DocuSign API

First-Ever eSignature Hackathon Awards $25,000 in Cash Prizes to Innovative Apps with Integrations on the DocuSign Application Programming Interface (API)

We’re excited to announce the winners of the first-ever ESIGN Hackathon! Following 35 non-stop hours of heated competition, DocuSign congratulated grand-prize winner Philippe Furlan who took home $10,000 for developing the Most Innovative App leveraging the DocuSign API, Sign My Tablet.

Furlan’s app allows electronic signing of petitions, providing increased, easier and more convenient access for citizens to take part in the legislative process. Additionally, the added feature of photo capture from the mobile device during the signing process adds a deeper layer of credibility and validity to the petition being signed.

E Sign Hackathon: $25,000 to Innovative Apps Using the DocuSign API

Peter Ma and Kash Vaidya were presented with a check for $5,000 and the Best Mobile App honors for their delivery sign off application EZSlip.

The application is designed to eliminate the frustrations of missing deliveries that require signatures, including delayed receipt of envelopes and packages, having to reschedule deliveries, and having to take time away from work to take receipt of deliveries. EZSlip saves time and money for overnight delivery and shipping companies by eliminating the need for and costs associated with storing and redelivering of packages, while also reducing the risk of mishandling packages.

Sponsored by Box, the Best Enterprise Application and $5,000 was awarded to Neil Mansilla for his PodioSign application that integrates DocuSign and Podio.

The app increases the speed of business by allowing users to easily and instantly upload and send forms and contracts for signature. With DocuSign, negotiating financing, hiring contractors and bringing on new employees are streamlined with automated workflows that speed the time to signature for non-disclosure agreements, contracts and other vital documents.

Nicholas Reed was awarded Best Consumer App and $5,000 for his parental consent form signing application.

The innovative app leverages templates to create an easier and better way for teachers, parents and students to complete and sign consent forms for field trips. Gone are the paper problems of lost or forged consent forms, replaced by a better way.

The DocuSign Hackathon ran from 9:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, to 7:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 15. More than 100 people participated and a panel of expert judges selected the winners. Awards were given out at the DocuSign customer, partner and developer summit in San Francisco on May 16, 2011.

Thank you to the ESIGN Hackathon partners: Apigee, Appirio CloudSpokes, Box, Clearwire, Factual, the GLUE Conference and ProgrammableWeb, as well as our judges from Box, Cloud Avenue, ProgrammableWeb, Salesforce, Scale Venture Partners, Second Century Ventures, Sigma+Partners and SnapLogic and DocuSign.

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
