NEW YORK, November 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Answers Corporation today announced the launch of question and answers content from Yahoo! Answers on Answers.com(TM).
Answers.com currently offers its visitors free access to comprehensive information on almost four million topics, drawn from over 100 trusted encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauruses, and other sources. Yahoo! Answers, the #1 Q&A site with more than 60 million users globally, now provides Answers.com users with a rich supplementary source of community-generated questions and answers on almost any topic. This addition to Answers.com pages will help users connect to others to augment reference information with real-life experience.
"The phenomenon of the 'wisdom of crowds' has taken on extraordinary momentum, as evidenced by the meteoric growth of Yahoo! Answers," explained Bob Rosenschein, CEO of Answers.com. "While our existing content is incredibly rich, relevant and cross-disciplinary, answers drawn from a community Q&A site provide a flip side - the dynamic, interactive voice of the people. User-generated content is a powerful wave on the internet and is a direction that we will continue to actively pursue."
"We're excited to share Yahoo! Answers with Answers.com's large population of users," added Tomi Poutanen, director of product management for Yahoo! Social Search. "The partnership will connect people to the information they're seeking with those who know it."
Answers.com users can view relevant questions and answers - both specific questions and topic-related categories - from Yahoo! Answers directly on Answers.com's own pages. In addition, users can click directly to Yahoo! Answers to ask any question.
"While it's terrific to use Answers.com today to find detailed, factual information on any given topic, we are offering an even more powerful user experience by tapping into the collective wisdom of one of the Internet's largest communities," stated Jeff Cutler, Chief Revenue Officer of Answers.com. "Following on the heels of our acquisition of FAQ Farm, incorporating Yahoo! Answers is an additional step toward our goal of creating a dynamic educational experience and a single destination for people to find their answers."
