Security Global Investors Launches Small Cap Value and All Cap Value Funds

TOPEKA, Kansas and NEW YORK, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Security Global Investors (SGI) announces the launch of Small Cap Value (Ticker: SSUAX) and All Cap Value (SESAX) mutual funds. Capitalizing on SGI's equity value expertise the new funds round out the firm's current value offerings, which include Mid Cap Value (SEVAX) and Large Cap Value (SECIX). The Small Cap Value fund launched in July and the All Cap Value fund launched October 10.

Portfolio managers Jim Schier and Mark Mitchell lead a seasoned staff of 10 professionals, including five fundamental analysts, a quantitative analyst, and two traders. The team is dedicated exclusively to SGI's value style.

"Security Global Investors has a successful record of value investing across the capitalization continuum. These new product offerings are a logical extension of our core value investing competencies," noted Mitchell. "We believe these strategies will appeal to both institutional and retail investors while each addresses different investment objectives. The Small Cap Value strategy offers institutional and retail investors exposure to a pure small cap market capitalization style while the All Cap Value strategy provides investors with an unconstrained best ideas value portfolio across the capitalization spectrum."

Schier, lead portfolio manager of the Mid Cap Value fund since inception 11 years ago, is the lead manager on the new Small Cap Value Fund. Under Schier's stewardship, the Mid Cap Value fund has beaten the Russell 2500 Value index over the one-, three-, five-, and 10-year periods ending September 30, 2008. Since inception, the fund has outperformed its benchmark by 550 basis points on an annualized basis, net of fees. "The Small Cap Value fund allows us to apply our decade of experience in selecting small cap stocks to a portfolio that investors can use as a pure play allocation in their portfolio," said Schier.

In August, Mitchell celebrated three years as lead portfolio manager of SGI's Large Cap Concentrated Value strategy. The Security Large Cap Value Fund, the strategy's counterpart, has a record dating back more than 60 years. The Large Cap Value fund exceeded the performance of its benchmark 1.40% to 0.09% on an annualized basis, net of fees, during the 3-year period ending September 30, 2008. Schier and Mitchell share responsibility as co-portfolio managers for the All Cap Value fund.
