MXI Security and Unisys Collaborate on Secure USB Consolidated Virtual Desktop Solution

MXI Security™ and Unisys today announced a relationship that will deliver a new way for enterprise and government organizations to keep virtual desktops more secure. The two companies have collaborated on a key part of Unisys Consolidated Desktop Solution (CDS), which is designed to consolidate, virtualize and host desktop infrastructures onto centralized servers and storage systems.

The result of that collaboration, the Unisys Thin Client Model 2140, is a USB “stick” mass storage device that can transform an existing PC or laptop computer into a secure thin-client terminal by providing an encrypted read-only boot drive. The USB drive – a device developed by MXI Security – incorporates MXI Security’s Stealth MXP portable security technology along with Microsoft Windows XP Embedded Edition software and remote desktop protocol (RDP) client software configured for the CDS environment.

With the strong authentication and on-board hardware encryption capabilities of MXI Security’s Stealth MXP technology, the Unisys Thin Client Model 2140 device controls and protects access to an organization’s networks, data, and applications, whether within corporate boundaries or in remote-connection mode.

Containing only a user’s desktop environment software and no data, the Unisys device locks down the PC to prevent users from accessing DVD drives, USB ports and other means of downloading or uploading information to or from the desktop. Plus, it prevents catastrophic consequences from loss or theft of the device.

“Unisys has proven expertise in enterprise security solutions, and immediately saw the benefits that MXI Security’s Stealth MXP portable security device could provide for its customers,” said Lawrence Reusing, CEO of MXI Security. “By integrating MXI Security’s technology into the Unisys Consolidated Desktop Solution, Unisys can offer businesses a secure way to lock down PCs and provide the security required for virtual desktops.”

Mark Feverston, general manager, Microsoft Solutions, Unisys, said, “By leveraging MXI Security’s expertise and portable security technology in the Unisys Consolidated Desktop Solution, we can provide customers with a protected, virtualized thin-client solution that helps them reduce software and maintenance costs and improve the total cost of ownership for their desktop environments.”

MXI Security is a leading provider of FIPS 140-2 level 2 validated portable security USB devices to governments and corporations worldwide. The company was named to the Bank Technology News top 10 FutureNow List for 2008, and its Stealth MXP has received numerous acknowledgements including the Network Products Guide 2008 Outstanding Award in World's Best Security Products category and the Government Computer News Best of FOSE 2007 Award in the Security Peripherals category.

Digital Transformation is much more than a buzzword. The radical shift to digital mechanisms for almost every process is evident across all industries and verticals. This is often especially true in financial services, where the legacy environment is many times unable to keep up with the rapidly shifting demands of the consumer. IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. A service mesh like Istio addr...

To Really Work for Enterprises, MultiCloud Adoption Requires Far Better and Inclusive Cloud Monitoring and Cost Management … But How?
