TicketNetwork.com Attains Top E-Commerce Security PA-DSS Status

Company Leads Ticket Resale Industry by Protecting Ticket Buyers & Sellers With Highest Level of Security Standards

VERNON, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 04/22/09 -- TicketNetwork.com, the leading source for live event ticket inventory, announced today that it has proactively attained the elite PA-DSS (Payment Applications Data Security Standard) status, elevating its protection standards for credit card processing and consumer data storage. This company milestone follows its previously achieved Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance status in late 2008.

Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, or PCI DSS, consists of an overarching review of a company's technology, infrastructure, data movement, and its business processes. The PCI standard sets operations requirements in areas such as security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, software design, and other critical protective measures. In addition to successfully passing this comprehensive technology assessment, TicketNetwork also attained PA-DSS compliance, a more exacting set of requirement focused on software standards for payment applications. The goal of PA-DSS is aimed at protecting consumers by establishing standards for software vendors to follow. These standards ensure that payment applications do not store prohibited data, such as full magnetic stripe, CVV2 or PIN data, and comply with the overarching compliance standards set by the Payment Card Industry.

"In keeping with our corporate best practices, TicketNetwork, Inc. is both PCI and PA-DSS compliant, meeting security standards well beyond the basic requirements," said Don Vaccaro, CEO, TicketNetwork, Inc. "Ticket buyers purchasing tickets through TicketNetwork.com can rely on their information being completely protected throughout the purchase process. In addition, ticket sellers who use the TicketNetwork Point-of-Sale software system are deemed compliant by a Qualified Security Assessor. In short, our upgraded security standards protect both ticket buyers and sellers," Vaccaro added.

Get Smart With TicketNetwork

For ticket purchases to any concert, sporting, or theater event, TicketNetwork issues the following recommendations to its customers:

  (1) Buy your tickets from a reputable distributor. If you opt to purchase
your tickets from an unknown vendor, be sure to research customer
reviews and/or call their customer service line to get a sense of
their level of service. Any reputable vendor should provide customer
      service Mon - Fri 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., at minimum. The TicketNetwork
customer service center is open seven days a week from
      7 a.m. - 1 a.m.
  (2) Confirm the website check-out is secure. It is not enough for an
online retailer to "say" their website is secure -- it needs to be
certified by an approved scanning vendor (ASV). TicketNetwork, for
example, is certified by ControlScan. In addition, it has added
EVSSL (Extended Verification Secure Socket Layer) check-out security.
You know a site is EVSSL secure when the URL bar at the top turns
      GREEN.
  (3) Always check the purchase guarantee. Any online purchase, from a
toaster to a car, has some type of purchase guarantee. While it may
seem tedious, it is in every shopper's interest to read the fine
print. When purchasing tickets through TicketNetwork.com, customers
are guaranteed a 100% refund in the event the requested seats are no
      longer available.

IoT & Smart Cities Stories
The challenges of aggregating data from consumer-oriented devices, such as wearable technologies and smart thermostats, are fairly well-understood. However, there are a new set of challenges for IoT devices that generate megabytes or gigabytes of data per second. Certainly, the infrastructure will have to change, as those volumes of data will likely overwhelm the available bandwidth for aggregating the data into a central repository. Ochandarena discusses a whole new way to think about your next...

Cell networks have the advantage of long-range communications, reaching an estimated 90% of the world. But cell networks such as 2G, 3G and LTE consume lots of power and were designed for connecting people. They are not optimized for low- or battery-powered devices or for IoT applications with infrequently transmitted data. Cell IoT modules that support narrow-band IoT and 4G cell networks will enable cell connectivity, device management, and app enablement for low-power wide-area network IoT. B...

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
