Core Security Experts Selected to Present at Infosecurity Europe 2009

Core Security Technologies, provider of the CORE IMPACT family of comprehensive enterprise security testing solutions, today announced that its experts have been selected to serve as speakers for two sessions at the upcoming Infosecurity Europe 2009 conference being held in London from April 28-30.

“Security Testing: The Future Of Internal Assessment And Assurance”

10:40 a.m. GMT on Wednesday, April 29, 2009.

Earl’s Court Convention Hall

Alex Horan, senior product manager of Core Security Technologies

Presentation Details:
Based on the spiraling complexity of IT security technologies and processes themselves, and the proliferation of even more sophisticated threats meant to circumvent these controls, there has arguably never been a greater need for organizations to actively assess their system’s defenses.

As a result of all these factors, commercial penetration testing products have emerged that for the first time allow organizations to make security testing a standard, repeatable process; however, most of these technologies still require significant time and expertise to maximize their capabilities.

In this talk, Horan will explore how manual penetration testing has evolved over time from a specialized domain practiced by an expert few into a standard process accessible by most organizations -- and explore the role of vulnerability and application scanning therein. From there, he will offer predictions on where security testing will go over the next five years as even more solutions emerge that allow large organizations to take greater control of their own security testing processes – and consequently gain the information they need to stay ahead of emerging threats.

“Untangling the Web: Driving Web Application Security”

5:00 p.m. GMT on Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Hotel Ibis London Earls Court

Alex Horan, senior product manager of Core Security Technologies
Dan Haagman, chief operating officer of 7Safe
Wolfgang Kandek, chief technical officer of Qualys
Nikk Gilbert, IT security director of Alstom
Fran Howarth, principal analyst of Quocirca (moderator)

Presentation Details:
Without question, one of the most daunting security challenges facing most IT departments today is the prospect of protecting their web applications from attack. As the programs themselves have become increasingly complex and business-critical, and hackers have trained their sights on the exploitable vulnerabilities present in many applications, organizations have found themselves trying to pull off a difficult balancing act as they attempt to calculate, assess and address all the related security risks.

Representatives from Core Security, 7Safe, Qualys and Quocirca – along with enterprise practitioner Nikk Gilbert of EU transportation giant Alstom, will discuss the range of the issues facing organizations today around web applications vulnerability management, including:

  • Real-world risks facing many organizations today around web application security
  • Vulnerability and risk management techniques being adopted by leading-edge users
  • Processes that organizations can adopt to help improve their web applications security posture
  • Assessment technologies available on the market today to help address these challenges

For more information about the panel discussion or to schedule meetings with Core Security at the Infosecurity Europe 2009 Conference, please contact Tim Whitman or Justin Drake at 781-684-0770 or via email at: [email protected].

Cloud computing delivers on-demand resources that provide businesses with flexibility and cost-savings. The challenge in moving workloads to the cloud has been the cost and complexity of ensuring the initial and ongoing security and regulatory (PCI, HIPAA, FFIEC) compliance across private and public clouds. Manual security compliance is slow, prone to human error, and represents over 50% of the cost of managing cloud applications. Determining how to automate cloud security compliance is critical...
Enterprises have taken advantage of IoT to achieve important revenue and cost advantages. What is less apparent is how incumbent enterprises operating at scale have, following success with IoT, built analytic, operations management and software development capabilities - ranging from autonomous vehicles to manageable robotics installations. They have embraced these capabilities as if they were Silicon Valley startups.
"MobiDev is a Ukraine-based software development company. We do mobile development, and we're specialists in that. But we do full stack software development for entrepreneurs, for emerging companies, and for enterprise ventures," explained Alan Winters, U.S. Head of Business Development at MobiDev, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 20th Cloud Expo, held June 6-8, 2017, at the Javits Center in New York City, NY.
Recently, REAN Cloud built a digital concierge for a North Carolina hospital that had observed that most patient call button questions were repetitive. In addition, the paper-based process used to measure patient health metrics was laborious, not in real-time and sometimes error-prone. In their session at 21st Cloud Expo, Sean Finnerty, Executive Director, Practice Lead, Health Care & Life Science at REAN Cloud, and Dr. S.P.T. Krishnan, Principal Architect at REAN Cloud, discussed how they built...
When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...

Business professionals no longer wonder if they'll migrate to the cloud; it's now a matter of when. The cloud environment has proved to be a major force in transitioning to an agile business model that enables quick decisions and fast implementation that solidify customer relationships. And when the cloud is combined with the power of cognitive computing, it drives innovation and transformation that achieves astounding competitive advantage.
Machine learning has taken residence at our cities' cores and now we can finally have "smart cities." Cities are a collection of buildings made to provide the structure and safety necessary for people to function, create and survive. Buildings are a pool of ever-changing performance data from large automated systems such as heating and cooling to the people that live and work within them. Through machine learning, buildings can optimize performance, reduce costs, and improve occupant comfort by ...
