Forsythe Names Steve Abbott Senior Vice President of Security Solutions

Forsythe Solutions Group Inc., a 38-year IT infrastructure integrator, today announced that it has named Steve Abbott to lead its team of information security specialists who help Forsythe clients optimize their enterprise security programs, and design and implement technology solutions in support of those programs. Forsythe’s enterprise security infrastructure and information risk management solutions include security advisory services and infrastructure consulting in the areas of infrastructure security; front office security; storage security; event management monitoring and incident response; and enterprise risk management. Abbott brings to Forsythe more than 20 years of experience in the IT security industry. He will report to Forsythe president and CEO, Bill Brennan.

“Customers typically spend 9-12 months and hundreds of thousands of dollars merely selecting an enterprise class security application. Those customers require a partner who can easily identify their internal and external business risks, coupled with a methodology that reduces time and money to implement cost-optimized remediation solutions,” says Bill Brennan. “We are very excited to have someone with Steve Abbott’s experience and vision leading the development and delivery of our information security solutions.”

Before joining Forsythe, Abbott co-founded PGP Corporation, a global enterprise security company in 2002. He served as vice president of worldwide sales. Abbott also worked closely with PGP’s product management and engineering groups to help architect product solutions which helped data encryption become a mainstream security application. Abbott helped clients to identify security risks and reduce liabilities associated with messaging, mobile media and network file encryption. He was also responsible for measuring customer satisfaction, designing success programs, assessing service structures and serving as the customer advocate.

Abbott’s previous experience includes executive management and customer-facing positions at a variety of IT security industry innovators. As vice president of sales and then CEO of PortAuthority Technologies (now Websense), an early provider of data leak prevention (DLP) solutions, Abbott was responsible for working with early adopters to establish ways for sensitive data to be monitored and controlled. Abbott established the product architecture, product strategy and the roadmap, launching new products to the marketplace. He crafted the company's worldwide sales and channel strategy and built the company’s professional services.

Abbott began his career as a sales representative at Internet security-provider Symantec. He later served as director of OEM sales for computer security company Network Associates (now McAfee), building their OEM channel, and then as VP of channel sales for Vantive, an early leader in customer relationship management solutions, now owned by Oracle.
