Napera Collaborates With Marvell to Extend Availability of Online Security Service to Marvell Single-Chip Switching Platforms

Industry's First Combination of Ethernet Switching With Online Service Delivers New Levels of Security to Switch Vendors and End Users

LAS VEGAS, NV -- (Marketwire) -- 05/18/09 -- Interop - Napera Networks (www.napera.com) announced today a collaboration with Marvell (www.marvell.com) to deliver new online security services to switch vendors and end-users worldwide. Working in conjunction with the high performance Sheeva CPU integrated in Marvell's Prestera DX line of switching silicon, the Napera service brings new levels of security to a broad range of small business (SMB) and small and medium enterprise (SME) users, in a convenient online offering.

Available as a subscription service with compatible Marvell-based Ethernet switches, the Napera service offers switch vendors a co-branded online service offering that delivers valuable security features and product differentiation with every Ethernet switch. The Napera service is provided on a turnkey basis with Marvell's production-ready Marvell Total Solution (MTS) software and silicon.

For end users, the Napera online service leverages switching infrastructure to provide SMB and SME IT managers with an affordable and effective way to secure their networks, without the cost and complexity of traditional enterprise solutions. Within minutes of activating the Napera service on a compatible switch, IT managers can see the health and identity of every computer on their local network via a secured Web browser session. Napera has licensed Microsoft's Network Access Protection technology to report the health of operating system updates, desktop firewalls and anti-virus software that form an IT manager's first line of defense against malware and other security risks. Advanced features include user authentication, guest access and integration with existing Wi-Fi access points and Active Directory servers. The Napera service deploys in minutes, leveraging a cloud-based management platform and requires no local servers or network changes.

"Marvell's convergence of high performance CPUs with the proven strength of our Prestera DX switch family has created the ideal platform to deliver new applications in networking and security," said Nafea Bshara, VP of Technology and Strategy for the Enterprise Business Unit, Communications and Consumer Business Group for Marvell. "Marvell is pleased that Napera is offering their unique security service with Marvell's line of market leading turnkey switching solutions."

"Our collaboration with Marvell delivers networking vendors an unbeatable product offering with Marvell's Ethernet switch technology and the industry's most innovative online service," said Todd Hooper, CEO and founder of Napera Networks. "We are confident that the combination of Marvell's switch family with Napera's online service will be the first choice for the next generation of SMB and SME switch designs."

Napera will be demonstrating the Napera security service at Interop Las Vegas 2009 (http://www.interop.com/lasvegas/registration/?priorityCode=CMYANL01&gclid=CNq_1-X2xJoCFRYiagodw3eKsQ). For further information, please contact Heather Johnson, Vice President of Strategic Sales at [email protected]

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
